Hey There 👋
Thanks for reading about me. I’m Manthan Koolwal, the founder of Scrapingdog. Here’s a little story about how it all started.
Back in my college days, this is where I was first introduced to the concept of Web Scraping by a college mate. All this was new and I was quickly fascinated by how this can help to extract large amounts of data rapidly!! I knew programming languages by then and this knowledge and this friend helped me to understand this concept. Later on in my college days, I teamed up with this guy and built an API to track railway tickets, PNR numbers, and seat availability. To our surprise, we were reached out by one of the giants in the railway booking system and they wanted to acquire our API. We sold it to them at $36K in 2017 and this was my “aha” moment which laid the basic foundation of Scrapingdog!! I kept learning skills and languages and got better at scraping. In 2019, I launched Makcorps, a tool to get real-time hotel price data from over 200+ OTAs. Seeing its success, I developed a similar product for flight data, which provided even more insights beyond just pricing. Both projects gained a lot of attention and positive feedback. Inspired by this success, I came up with the idea for Scrapingdog. Finally, in 2021 Scrapingdog was born. Unlike my previous projects, it was launched to be a tool that can scrape data from any source on the web. Since its inception, I’ve been dedicated to continually improving and refining Scrapingdog every single day. Our journey is just beginning, and I’m excited about the innovations and improvements we’ll continue to bring to web scraping.
